Full-time | Hybrid, Berlin | Senior
About edyfi
edyfi is a data and analytics company working with businesses in real estate, energy and infrastructure.
We build the edyfi platform: a software platform for real estate portfolios that brings buildings, rental units, energy consumption, sensor data and ESG reporting (including SFDR) together in one data environment. Our customers are funds and asset managers who rely on the platform’s figures in their reporting
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack & Data Platform Engineer (m/f/d) for a permanent, full-time position. The person in this role will be edyfi’s first dedicated engineer and will take technical responsibility for the platform, working closely with our CIO.
The role covers the full lifecycle of the platform: running it reliably, onboarding new customers and data sources, and developing new features. The platform is already live and well documented, so the role starts with a working system and a structured handover, not a blank page.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Keeping the platform stable and secure in production, including monitoring, troubleshooting, fixing issues and releases
- Connecting and maintaining data sources and interfaces, for example electricity meters, IoT sensors, PV systems, EV charging and energy market data
- Onboarding new customers and portfolios: preparing and importing data, setting up access and checking the results for plausibility
- Designing, building and testing new features, from the database and API to the bilingual user interface (German and English)
- Safeguarding data quality, including identifying and resolving inconsistencies in source data
- Looking after and developing the cloud infrastructure, deployments and running costs
- Maintaining technical documentation and making well-reasoned technical decisions
- Working with internal colleagues, customers and service partners to understand requirements and turn them into solutions
The responsibilities above describe the main focus of the role and are not an exhaustive list. As a growing company, responsibilities may develop over time in line with business needs and the person’s experience.
What to Expect
- A typical week combines planned development work with operational topics such as data questions and customer requests. Priorities are agreed together with the CIO
- Independent work with ownership of technical decisions, and direct contact with the CIO on business questions and priorities
- The role does not initially include people management. As the team grows, it can develop into a technical lead positionInstallation and on-site sensor work are carried out by service partners; the person in this role supports them technically
- Occasional availability outside regular working hours may be needed for critical incidents. The details are set out in the employment contract
Tools and Technologies
The following technologies form the core of the edyfi platform. Experience with every tool listed is not a requirement.
- JavaScript and Node.js (Express, Vite)
- PostgreSQL, including complex SQL queries, views and performance tuning
- Microsoft Azure (App Service, database, storage, Redis) and GitHub Actions
- REST APIs and data integrations
- Python for data import scripts
- Visualisation and maps, for example Chart.js, D3 and Leaflet
- AI tools and LLM APIs, both in the product and in development
- Git for version control
Skills and Experience
- Several years of experience as a full-stack or backend engineer, including responsibility for systems in production
- Very good knowledge of JavaScript/Node.js and relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
- Experience integrating external APIs and building reliable data pipelines
- Experience with cloud platforms, ideally Azure, and with CI/CD
- Security awareness, particularly around access control and data protection (GDPR)
- A structured, independent way of working, clear written communication and careful documentation
- Very good written and spoken English
Nice to Have
- German language skills
- Experience in energy, real estate, cleantech or ESG reporting (for example SFDR, GHG Protocol)
- Experience with metering, sensor or time-series data
- Experience in a start-up or as the first or only engineer
- Experience building products with LLM APIs
What We Offer
- A permanent, full-time position with real responsibility from day one
- Ownership of a live platform used by real customers
- Hybrid working, based in Berlin
- A structured onboarding and a well-documented codebase
- A fair salary appropriate to the company’s stage, discussed openly during the process
- Real room for professional growth as the team and the platform develop
